Why Change Isn't Always A Bad Thing
Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring are all the seasons our beautiful Earth has. We always look forward to a new season starting. Maybe you get excited about Winter because you love Winter fashion. Maybe you look forward to Summer because you love going to your favorite beach and getting a tan. Although the seasons on Earth are predictable, we still look forward to all the changes the Earth will give us.
But, when life brings you unpredictable changes, you feel like you lose control of the steering wheel and begin your descend downhill. I will be more than happy to admit that I get so angry when life doesn’t work out the way I wanted it to. I had to do a lot of reflecting. That’s why I am here writing this article for you. My goal is to help you surrender to the negative changes in your life, and turn them into positive ones.
Life’s Desire Is Not To Destroy You
We tend to find someone or something to blame when something doesn’t go our way. For example, I am a very goal-driven person. I write down my goals every week, I journal about my goals, and I reward myself when I reach a goal. Recently, it has been very hard for me to achieve the goals I set for myself. What made me more frustrated was the fact that I was doing everything I could to achieve those goals; yet, I wasn’t achieving them. I was so discouraged I began to blame life. I started to believe life didn’t want me to have success or become the person I know I was meant to be. So, to help me clear my mind, I gave myself a break from my weekly goal setting and tried to enjoy life by enjoying the little things.
The break I took gave me time to think about the direction my life was going in. I came to the realization that life doesn’t want to destroy me. Life doesn’t want to see me fail. I began to think, “Maybe I’m not going in the right direction.” God, the universe, or any other higher power you believe in will do anything and everything to get you back on track. For me, God was saying, “Hey Keli, this isn’t where you need to be going. I’ll stop what’s going on here, so you can pivot and get back on the right path.” So, that’s what I did. I pivoted to the direction he wanted me to go in. I let go of my goal-setting ego and created a new plan for my life. But, I had to surrender to life’s changes.
A tree is not going to tell Mother Nature “no” when she says to let go of its leaves. The tree lets the leaves fall, so they can grow again in the Spring. The tree surrenders to Mother Nature like we have to surrender to life. Change isn’t losing control of the steering wheel. Change is being able to hit the brake, turn, and enjoy the adventure to your new destination. Even if you aren’t going through tough changes right now, my hope is for you to remember this article when you are going through tough changes. And for those of you that are going through tough changes right now, remember you are now one step closer to your new destination.
